Well another year has come and gone. Time flies! I can’t say 2012 was the best year for me personally but it was a great one for 8BZ. Personal life was a bit of a roller coaster this year but through it all 8BZ continued to grow and do well. Some of my all-time fav 8BZ items were released this year. So much cool stuff! I think the top item on most people’s awesome 8BZ list this year would be the lunchboxes.
Still so proud of those bad boys and super happy with how they turned out. I’ve had so much fun with the 8BZ Kids Club and I hope you guys have too. You can expect lots more rad stuff from the Kids Club in 2013!
This was an amazing year for tees and hats as well. So much radness from so many great artists. I feel lucky as always to be working with so many amazing and talented people.
Just today, I released yet another fun new item that I’ve been wanting to do forever. POWER PACKS! What is a Power Pack? Stickers, buttons, vintage cards and patches! All wrapped up in a nostalgically rad package. With these packs I also FINALLY got around to making some of the above GPK style store product pics a reality. They turned out amazing and are so cool!
As I said, I’ve been wanting to do sticker packs forever. But I wanted to put my own spin on them and make it more of an 80′s childhood throw-back. 80′s toy packaging was my inspiration while making the “toppers” for the packs. I even went as far as to make little cut-out “Power Points” on the backs. Reminiscent of the points you collect and send in from the backs of G.I. Joe and TMNT toys.
They aren’t just there to look cool! Make sure you KEEP those Power Points as they will come into play soon! I started out small with these packs just to see how they would do and they are already flying off the shelves! I’d say that means you guys like and want them, so keep those peepers peeled for more of these soon! The next packs will be bigger, better and radder!
In 2012 I began to outsource most of my printing. As some of you know, I screen printed ALL of my merch for the first few years. Outsourcing has been a bit of a trial and error process and it was hard to give up that control but it’s worked out well and has freed up the time I wanted to spend on the brand itself. Not having to spend weeks/months slaving over the printing press to prepare for releases has been a huge relief. I’ve been able to focus on the little things and give the brand itself more of my attention. Which is exactly what I wanted.
I’m hoping to continue that trend in 2013 and take things a step farther as well. This coming year I plan on making 8BZ slicker and more polished. I’ve got SO many ideas that it’s ridiculous. More rad non-clothing items are coming your way. I’ve had a blast working on the lunchboxes, stickers, patches, Power Packs and the Kids Club. You can expect lots more stuff that will make your inner 80′s child squeal with delight. And of course tons of shirts and hats as well. Really looking forward to all of the awesomeness 2013 will hold for 8-bit ZOMBIE!
Thanks again to all you, the fans, for the amazing support this year. 8BZ wouldn’t be where it is now if it wasn’t for all of you. Your support and enthusiasm over my little brand means the world to me. Thank you.
On to bigger and better things! See you in 2013!
